WINDCLAN NEWS
Latest Update: Jan 31/16

  JANUARY 31/16 UPDATES

WindClan's new deputy is Yarrowheart. Litchenstrike, the previous deputy, stepped down due to stress, feeling unable to handle the post. She died of the water-sickness shortly thereafter. The day after Litchenstrike's death, Yarrowheart was named new deputy. 

Among the other water-sickness deaths of note was the senior warrior, Softears. 

Hunting is good, as is the weather. Despite losing Litchenstrike and Softears, WindClan is strong in the wake of everything that has been occurring. The moor is peaceful, with no threats besides the water at the moment.

WINDCLAN POLITICS

It is also imperative to note that Lionstar will take all cases as they come. These politics are a good indicator, but not always a 100% certainty of what will occur on an individual basis. If you have any questions for plotting and the like, PM Lionstar.

  RELATIONS WITH THUNDERCLAN : NEUTRAL

ThunderClan and WindClan are on neutral, bordering on rival, terms. There is no outward hostility nor outward friendship. Lionstar's predecessor, Acornstar, did not interact much with ThunderClan, and for the moment, little has changed, with neither Clan seeing much reason to interact with the other that the moment. 

  RELATIONS WITH SHADOWCLAN : ALLIED/FRIENDLY

Both Clans suffered greatly thanks to Coalheart's influence, but Thicketstar spoke with Lionstar and peace was established. The two leaders are personal friends, and general Clan relations are warm. There is no lasting bad blood between the two Clans, as both desire to move forwards from where Coalheart tried to drag them back. It is quite possible one Clan will come to the aid of the other, if required.

  RELATIONS WITH RIVERCLAN : IT'S COMPLICATED/FRIENDLY

As far as WindClan is concerned, they saved RiverClan from annihilation. WindClan was the only Clan to assist them in the Coven battle, and this assistance in the battle lost WindClan's old deputy, Litchenstrike. To many WindClanners, RiverClan was too cowardly and weak to throw the Coven out of their own land, and so needed help--many think that would not have happened had Russetstar not initially capitulated to the Coven. Officially, relations are friendly but not necessarily allied.

  RELATIONS WITH LONERS/ROGUES/CLAN DEFECTORS : CASE-BY-CASE

While Lionstar demands loners and kittypets be treated with the same respect that would be given a Clan cat, WindClan relations with non-hostile loners is relegated to the cat that finds them. If found by a patrol, the senior most warrior makes the choice on how to deal with the loners. Loners are generally run off unless near the borders around the twoleg farms. 

Hostile loners and rogues will be chased off but not killed, unless necessary for self-defense. Hostile loners who declare war against the Warrior Code or StarClan, however, will be given less mercy and killing them is regarded as a grey area. 

Clan defectors are regarded with great suspicion, and should they ask to join WindClan, the situation falls into the paws of Lionstar, not the warrior who found them. There is no way of saying that outcome without knowing specifics. A similar situation would befall loners and kittypets wishing to join WindClan. 

  ON INTER-CLAN ROMANCE AND HALF-CLAN CATS

Inter-Clan romances are severely looked down upon and stigmatized if they come to light , and it is likely Lionstar will try to break apart the couple personally. She doesn't regard it as anything personal--the cats could be lovely for eachother--but cross-Clan relationships are a strain on everyone. 

Half-Clan cats are regarded with no sigma in Lionstar's eyes, however: they did not choose the unfortunate circumstances of their parentage. As long as they pick one Clan or the other and stick to it, they have her blessing.

WINDCLAN LORE
These are notes a WindClan cat is likely to know or learn about around camp.

  ON THE COVEN

• WindClan took in RiverClan refugees, IF the RiverClanners were either kits, young (6-8 moon) apprentices, queens, or elders. Warriors and older apprentices were turned back, as WindClan felt they should be trying to fix the problem, rather than running from it.
• Lionstar issued the only kill-on-sight order issued to WindClan in living memory with regard to the Coven. Coven cats were to be killed, no exceptions, no mercy, no hesitation. Many senior warriors have Coven kills to their name.

  OTHER INFORMATION

• Just before the Coven, there was a heavy twoleg infestation of the moors. Several cats were taken, including Acornstar,  the medicine cat Crowfeather and his apprentice Applepaw. Crowfeather is confirmed dead. Some cats hold out that Applepaw might return. Acornstar's status is unknown. Lionstar received a full nine lives, but did not see him among StarClan. 
• Acornstar, Lionstar's predecessor, was more isolationist than Lionstar. 
• Lionstar's first--and thus far only--Gathering as leader was attended with her unnamed as Lionstone and with no deputy. Softears, who has died of the water sickness, acted as an unofficial deputy as Lionstar left the Gathering after ending it to go to the Moonstone.
• Softears refused the position of deputy, claiming he was too old. Litchenstike took the post, but then stepped down within a moon of taking it.
