head lifting over the rise, a blast of wind immediately swiped him in the face for his curiosity. head dipping down, the young tom's chin rested against his paws. it was the morning after his ceremony and while loonpaw should've been excited to be apprenticed to the clan deputy, he had been disappointed last night that mothpaw's and his apprentice ceremony had run late. after touching noses with him, yarrowheart had sent him over to get acquainted with his new nest instead of viewing windclan territory in the dark. the only thing that had gotten loonpaw to sleep was the anticipation he would be viewing the land tomorrow instead. now, that seemed it would never happen with the high wind over the clan this morning.

[smear:9c4948]"is it always this windy out on the moors, yarrowheart?"[/smear:dbb386] the slim tom questioned, amber eyes placing themselves on the larger feline. even when they had slipped from camp, loonpaw felt like he was going to be plucked off his paws by the breeze. what if this was how it always was? a nearly terrified expression proceeded to land over his features and loonpaw was covering his ears with his paws after working his eyes away from yarrowheart and closing them. was he never going to be able to see his home, the rolling hills of windclan territory?

or would his mentor, the clan deputy, kindly let him walk on the other side of her so he wouldn't be blown away? nothing in his mind gave him the idea that perhaps, given time, the wind would die down. loonpaw had no experience here.

heart of yarrows The deputy was still glad that Lionstar had listened to her request, though she knew deep down that she always would. Though they were not like sisters - they were dissimilar enough and Lionstar was not one for any kind of social bonding - they were close enough to respect one another; this was clearly a proven hypothesis as she was now deputy, after all. She wondered if she would outlive Lionstar, but it seemed unlikely. Perhaps with her genetics it would be possible, given that her own mother lived to a very old age for a feral cat - but it was not of great concern yet. What interested her now was the possibility of returning to training after some time of hiatus, with being a mother briefly and then a busy deputy. She was glad to return to the familiarity of practice and training and of the thrill of having ones ideals realised in a subsequent generation. He'd be a challenge, sure, but Yarrowheart was one for physical and mental dexterity. "I'm afraid that is usually the case," the she-cat said, appearing behind Loonpaw with a strong but determined and consoling smile. "It is why we are called WindClan, after all." She paused, with a nod, "I'm sure you will get used to it - it took me some time to adapt so that I would not fall backwards while training." She paused, noticing his distress, "I know for a fact that it is nothing to be afraid about and that you are perfectly capable of surmounting any worries you might have." Although she was not known for her great sympathy, she was more lenient with new apprentices, and thus moved to the side to block some of the wind. She, with her size, would hopefully act as a barrier between the elements and her nervous apprentice. It was a part of their home, and Loonpaw needed to come to terms with that. He would not do it alone, however; she would be there to guide him, if necessary. The mentor-apprentice relationship had almost canonical status within the clan, and if Loonpaw came out of it unprepared or insecure in his abilities, she would not consider her job done well. She would make sure he knew all of the skills needed to become a warrior. Yarrowheart wondered for a moment what his name would be, but she knew it was too soon to tell such things. Now, however, she had to focus on the obvious: they were going to do a tour of the territory. She mapped out in her mind the places they needed to go: first the moors, then the outlook rock, then the abandoned badger set, then the old willow tree and then the abandoned twoleg farm and the meadow beside it. Given the weather, she hoped that neither of them would become part of the wind, literally.  "I have a rough plan of where we need to go. If there is any place in particular you'd like to see or would like to stay a little longer at, tell me." She continued, "Along the way I'll try and explain the significance of each place and ask you some questions, though this isn't a test. Primarily," she looked at him, "This is an opportunity to get to know you and how you think." She stepped in front, waiting for his move, "Shall we?" 564 loonpaw sorry it's late
